The John W. Dickhaut Library contains over 130,000 volumes and subscribes to about 250 periodicals. In addition, the Library offers a Curriculum Resource Center and access to several major databases online and on CD-Rom, including the ATLA Religion Database, the Dictionary of Pastoral Care and Counseling and the Works of John Wesley. The library provides networked and wireless computing access throughout the building.


In 2007, Methodist Theological School in Ohio joined the Ohio Private Academic Libraries (OPAL) and OhioLINK consortia along with its partners in the Theological Consortium of Greater Columbus (TCGC), Trinity Lutheran Seminary and the Pontifical College Josephinum. These consortia provide statewide access to a wide variety of print and electronic resources through a unified catalog. TCGC borrowers continue to have access to one of the ten largest theological collections in the United States, totaling over 360,000 volumes.

The primary mission of the library of the Methodist Theological School in Ohio is to support the information needs of the school’s students, faculty and staff. Other individuals, who are also neither alumni nor legitimate borrowers at one of the OPAL schools, may apply to the librarian or one of his representatives for limited borrowing privileges.

The library is often called the heart of an academic community, and at Methodist Theological School in Ohio the central role of the library is quite evident. The library staff is always ready to assist with your research and to do all they can to facilitate the teaching and learning process at Methodist Theological School in Ohio.
