Notes for new students
Before beginning, please take time to open and read the links below. Information from the Academic Dean and the Director of Student Services will be helpful to you as you begin the registration process. The registration advice link is a step by step guide for choosing your courses.
Registration instructions and advice (you must read this)
ES-500, Educated Spirit, is a required course for ALL new students. This course begins with an intensive weekend that you must attend. Please plan now to be on campus all day January 30, 2017, for New Student Orientation. Educated Spirit (ES-500) will not be offered during the Spring 2017 term.
In late November, new students may register without faculty advising. You may also schedule an appointment with the registrar to register in person. If you prefer talking with a faculty advisor, please contact the registrar.
If there are problems or concerns with your submitted schedule, the registrar will contact you. During orientation you may review your course schedule with a faculty advisor and discuss your plans for the rest of the school year. If you need to revise your schedule, you may drop or add courses at that time. You also will receive valuable information about life as a student at MTSO, have an opportunity to talk with professors about class expectations and learn “where to go for what” on campus.
Finally, the link to this page has been sent to the e-mail address we have on file for you. Once you begin classes, you will have a new e-mail address in the format “email@example.com.” You will need to transfer to this account for all your school-related e-mail communications. If you wish to configure this new account to forward messages to another account you already use, you may do so but will need to set up that process on your own. E-mail is an official channel for school communications; we require it and use it extensively at MTSO. Please remember to check your new e-mail account once you are enrolled.
Please contact Registrar Sue Lamphere by phone (740-362-3344) or e-mail if you have any questions. Many people are available to answer questions as you make this transition to seminary. We are looking forward to having you on campus.
