Welcome, international students

MTSO recognizes the global nature of Christianity and welcomes you to our beautiful campus in the American heartland.

If you are looking for a quality theological education in a setting with the best of small-town and big-city American life, you’ll want to seriously consider MTSO. Downtown Columbus, Ohio State University and Port Columbus International Airport all are within a 30-minute drive.

One more thing to consider: International students often are pleasantly surprised by the low cost of living at MTSO compared to other U.S. seminaries.

New international students may enroll in the fall semester. Completed admission files need to be received by March 1 for fall admission.

We welcome a visit if that is practical for you. Our Office of Admissions also will be happy to assist you with application via e-mail and phone: 800-333-6876.

Getting started

As an international student, you are required to complete the Test of English as a Foreign Language. MTSO’s TOEFL score requirement is 79 for the Internet test, or 550 for the paper-based test. Scores must be sent directly from the reporting agency to Methodist Theological School in Ohio (Institution Code 1540). Students may be required to take ES-501 based on their TOEFL score as determined by the admissions committee.

Scholarships are available for qualified international students.
