Harambee 2026

Walking in the Fruit of the Spirit

MTSO will honor graduates who are people of color at its annual Harambee Celebration on April 28. All are invited.

This year’s theme is “Walking in the Fruit of the Spirit.” The scripture is Ephesians 5:9: “Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth).”

The program honors the graduates and celebrates their upcoming graduation from the school in the presence of fellow students, professors, administrators and others who have been a part of the graduates' journey.

Harambee begins with dinner in Dunn Dining Hall at 6:30 p.m. and continues with a program in the Alford Centrum from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. There is no charge to attend, but an RSVP (below) is required.

This year's Harambee speaker is Jenn Fowler Howard, the senior managing director of Per Scholas Columbus. In her role, Fowler Howard directly addresses the issues of thriving workforces through ensuring equitable access to education for all.

Additionally, she is the founder and executive director of Project C.L.O.U.D.S, a nonprofit organization that provides leadership training, life-skill development, and college and career preparation for youth between the ages of 14 and 22.

Fowler Howard holds a B.S. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Further, she completed a Master of Divinity degree from MTSO and is a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc.
