IN MEMORIAM

Patrick Kaufman: A Celebration of the Life

Family, friends and colleagues gathered Sept. 18 to celebrate the life of Patrick Kaufman, an MTSO alumnus and staff member who died Sept. 13 following a 10-month struggle with melanoma. He is survived by his wife, Karen, an MTSO alumna; children Jeremiah, Emma and Christian; parents David and Marion Kaufman; sister Stephanie (Marcus) Loree; and grandparents Ruby Kaufman and George Beyer.

Kaufman, age 40, was a tremendous force for good on the west side of Columbus, working alongside his neighbors on projects including Franklinton Farms, which he co-founded. At MTSO, he coordinated the Community Food and Wellness Initiative

The Sept. 18 celebration of life service began in MTSO's Alford Centrum and concluded outdoors, overlooking the fields of MTSO's Seminary Hill Farm. Below is a video of the indoor portion of the service.

The bulletin for the service includes his complete obituary.

The Columbus Dispatch published a story on Kaufman Sept. 16. The Coalition of Immokalee Workers, a group whose cause he championed, posted a tribute as well.
