Alumni Day

We invite all alumni, former employees and friends of MTSO to gather Monday, Sept. 21, and reconnect as we share a meal, a chapel service and faculty presentations. At our luncheon, we will honor three recipients of the 2026 Mount Alumni Awards for Distinguished Service:

• Tejai Beulah Howard (MTS ’11), spiritual director, historian, and educator
• Andy Call (M.Div. ’13), lead pastor, Church of the Saviour, Cleveland Heights, Ohio
• Brad Davis (M.Div. ’20), United Methodist clergy and co-chair, From Below: Rising Together For Coalfield Justice

Following chapel, the day will conclude with short presentations from two of MTSO’s newest faculty members, Assistant Professor of Theology Jee Hyun Baek and Assistant Professor of History Beth Stroud, providing insights into their current research projects and implications for ministry. Emeritus Professor of Church History Jeff Jaynes will moderate the presentations.

Baek will present perspectives from her work in Korean feminist trauma theology, drawing on her Boston University dissertation, “The Sound of Han across Generations: A Theological Response to Intergenerational Trauma in the Korean Diaspora.” Stroud will speak about Horace Bushnell, widely considered the father of American Liberal Theology, as she probes limitations encountered in late 19th century liberal traditions.

All alumni are also invited to MTSO’s Williams Institute Lectures Sept. 22 and 23 - the two days following Alumni Day. Jacqui Lewis, the senior minister of NYC’s Middle Collegiate Church, will speak on building and nurturing interracial faith communities.
