Master of Divinity
In a complex and rapidly changing world, you’ll want an M.Div. degree targeting your unique path.
MTSO’s Master of Divinity program provides excellent preparation for a full spectrum of vocations in religious leadership. The 75-credit-hour MTSO M.Div. provides grounding in the values and methods you’ll need for effective ministry. In addition, the program includes seven elective courses, offering the opportunity to personalize your degree to fit your aspirations.
- All of our graduate degrees include the Mid-Program Review. This course is designed for you to reflect on the midpoint of your vocational and academic journey. Students meet semi-regularly to evaluate academic progress, achievements, and opportunities for further growth and development.
- All of our graduate degrees include a Cross-Cultural Immersion, giving students the opportunity to explore intersections of economic, ecological, racial, gender and LGBTQ+, and justice issues.
- The M.Div. program also includes a Capstone. At the end your time at MTSO, you will compile a learning portfolio of your experiences and learning throughout your program. This portfolio articulates your vocational vision and the skills and knowledge gained during your time at MTSO to give to future employers or boards of ordained ministry.
Students who take 12 credit hours each semester and at least 3 credit hours each intensive term typically complete the M.Div. within three years. Students who take 9 credit hours each semester and at least 3 credit hours each intensive term typically complete the M.Div. within four years.
MTSO offers courses both in person and online. While some courses are available exclusively online or exclusively in person, the vast majority are available in both modes, employing HyFlex education.
